Some of Judith’s fondest memories trace back to her childhood, attending the Iowa State Fair and visiting the Swine Barn, dreaming of the day she’d have a pig of her own. That dream came true seven years ago when Herbert joined her family.

She fondly reminisces about her time living in South Carolina—peaceful walks along the Carolina coast with her beloved English bulldogs, Ethel, Stafford, and Mac, and quiet moments at home, sharing the sofa with Herbert while enjoying sweet tea, biscuits, and collards.
​
Though she adores all her animals, it was Herbert who sparked her creativity, inspiring her to write and illustrate fictional stories starring him. This passion led to the creation of Herbert’s Pig Tales, beginning with Pig Tails for 2.
​
As she worked on the next book in the series, A Stick in the Mud, another story captured her heart—that of a wandering water buffalo named Phill. His journey of courage, resilience, and love was one that needed to be told, giving life to Phill’s Grand Adventure: Finding Home.

Through her stories and illustrations, Judith hopes to entertain readers while fostering a deep appreciation for animals and the simple joy they bring to our lives.
